Often, when looking for the ultimate in luxury stays, the thing that doesn’t come to mind is the one that will always make a difference. My sister and I have travelled around the world and stayed in luxury retreats in far away places. It turns out we didn’t have to go far to experience the best in privacy and relaxation.

We recently returned from the Quintessence hotel where we had a fantastic 4 day stay. From the jaw dropping lake view to the infinity pool overlooking the lake to the stellar service and immaculate grounds, this small family owned boutique hotel (30 suites only) is one of the most gorgeous hotels we have stayed in anywhere. The attention to detail truly sets this hotel apart (starting with the complementary valet parking and the private check-in).

The hotel is situated in a perfect location in Mt-Tremblant right on the gorgeous Lake Tremblant. It’s super central; there are a number of restaurants within 3 minutes walking distance in the Tremblant village.

The village does have a lovely small main beach but the hidden gem is the private beach of the hotel only accessible through the hotel grounds. The hotel has a nice boardwalk by the lake at the end of which is a small deck where the owner’s motorboat is decked.

THE PRIVATE BEACH

You can jump in directly in the lake for a swim from the quay.

Accommodations

The hotel’s 30 luxury suites all feature king sized beds and wood burning fireplaces (the eco logs are a nice touch). The very spacious suites (ranging in size from 700 to 1200 square feet) with either balconies or terraces offer the most magnificent view of Lake Tremblant, the infinity pool and the extensive three acres landscaped garden.

We stayed in the Quintessence suite and found it to be super spacious. We loved the custom made king-sized bed with the plush bedding and the beautiful berber carpet.

All the suites have a fully stacked mini-bar, a Nespresso coffee machine with pods and quality teas, luxurious hotel bathrobes and slippers and daily complementary bottles of water.

The hotel also offers free high-speed wireless, LAN and Wi-Fi Internet access. There’s also free Wi-Fi service in the hotel’s common areas.

The huge amazing bathroom had a heated marble floor, a deep therapeutic spa bathtub, a separate rain shower and a private toilet. Loved all the AVEDA toiletries.

We particularly enjoyed the in-suite massage therapist and the swedish massage (what’s better than offering massages in the comfort of your suite facing your fire place!). The hotel even has a wood concierge to start your fireplace in winter.

Services

The infinity Pool

Overlooking the lake, the infinity pool is the best feature of this hotel.

The Gym

The hotel has a good 24hrs gym equipped with treadmill, stationary bicycle, elliptical, exercise mat and weights. It’s located next to the spa area of the hotel.

Spa Sans Sabots

The hotel spa (Spa sans Sabots) is small but very nice with only two massage rooms available to both hotel guests and outside guests so reservations are required. The spa has a steam room, a dry sauna and a stunning outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the hotel’s outdoor infinity pool (the pool is also open in winter for the Nordic bath experience).

They offer manicures, pedicures, facials and body treatments. For a more private experience, you can also chose (highly recommend this) the in-suite massage option. The spa offers a variety of massages including Swedish (loved this one), shiatsu, hot stone massage, 4-hand massage and Thai massage.

The hotel also offers Hatha yoga sessions (private or in group) that can also be in-suite.

Quintessence Restaurant

Very much enjoyed eating on the terrace of the Quintessence restaurant with the picture perfect lake view.

The restaurant’s main menu and bistro menu both offer a great culinary experience with delicious and varied choices that include the use of local produce. The chilled asparagus risotto with pistachio and parmesan was particularly succulent as was the Cobb salad from the bistro menu.

For those looking for the ultimate dining experience, you can try the Chef’s table,

a seven course tasting menu in a private “glasshouse” beside the restaurant’s kitchen.

The Winebar

For the wine lovers, cozy and elegant (reminiscent of an old English pub) with an impressive cellar (4000 bottles), the hotel’s winebar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink in a lounge atmosphere.

We had a great stay at the Quintessence and highly recommend this hotel. We can’t wait to go back. Truly 5*

Many thanks to Quintessence for hosting us for the purpose of this review. All views and opinions are our own.
